Cooking Club / Food Bank Volunteers

Our cooking club takes place every week, alternating venues between The Lost Arc Cafe and Pant Y Dwr Community Hall. It is a time for all ages to learn and share cooking skills, healthy eating and nutrition tips, and a chance to sit down together and enjoy good food. Alan is a member of the Pant-Y-Dwr club and this is what he has to say: "I've been attending the Cooking Club since it started around four years ago, I joined the Rhayader group to begin with but later joined the Pant-y-Dwr club to fit around work. I initially joined the club to gain cooking confidence but now it's more about getting together with the Pant-y-Dwr team, cooking our tea and having a laugh while we're at it. Our volunteer leaders keep our sessions on track and help us to plan for the fortnightly sessions, I'd recommend it to everyone and anyone!"

At Cooking Club this week we made the Jubilee Trifle and Coronation Chicken Pie. They were delicious!

Our foodbank provides people facing hardship and difficult times with much-needed supplies meaning that putting food on the table is one less thing they have to worry about. Like many of our services, this wouldn’t be possible without the support of, not only our local community, but also our wonderful volunteers who organise the food bank - sorting the food donations into parcels ready for distribution.
