Tea @The Farm

Nannerth Country Holidays
Nannerth Fawr Farm was the host for Tea at the farm

Earlier this year The Arches received an invitation from Alison and Andre Gallagher to hold a fundraising event in the grounds of their beautiful hill farm. Nannerth Fawr Farm with its delightful holiday cottages is a traditional 200 acre organic Welsh hill farm, set in the peaceful Wye Valley Mid Wales.

With the spectacular hills of the Elan Valley behind, tranquil pastures in front and bordered by the River Wye, this spot is a haven for birds and wildlife.

It was such a kind offer and an opportunity that we did not want to turn down. So on Sunday 4th August, we held a fundraising afternoon up at Nannerth Farm. It was an open event for anyone to attend, with attendees paying an entrance fee which included refreshments. There was plenty of tea and cake to keep everyone happy, beautiful gardens to explore, a guided farm walk, a children’s play area, a raffle and guess the name of the baby goat competition. There was also live musical interludes provided by Alison and Andre’s very talented granddaughter Ella, who played the piano and sang beautifully.

Many people attended the event and we were delighted at the fantastic turnout. We were also very lucky to have some of our fantastic volunteers helping us out on the day – Dennis and Ingrid were very busy in the kitchen providing refreshments for everyone, Catherine and Peggy sold lots of entrance tickets and raffle tickets, Del was our nominated First Aider and passenger assistant for our Dial-a-Ride members who came to the event on Archie, our mini-bus.

The baby goat was adorable and many enjoyed having a go at guessing the name. In the end it was one of the latecomers to the party who guessed correctly and won themselves a pair of their own cuddly baby goats, Ric Johnson, who correctly guessed the goat’s name as Sophie!

The success of the afternoon exceeded expectation and everyone truly enjoyed themselves and The Arches raised an amazing £500 on the day!
