The Community Shop was opened by Kirsty Williams AM in June 2014, following a need to provide sustainable income to enable The Arches services to continue. It is run by a small army of volunteers who welcome shoppers with a warm smile, a friendly face and a sprinkle of chit-chat as they browse through the Aladdin’s cave of treasures. Pat has been one of our wonderful shop volunteers for just over a year. “My husband passed away in 2018 and I had retired, then we had the pandemic. A friend of mine asked if I would like to do an afternoon a week in our local community charity shop and I really enjoy it. I would recommend it to anyone, it gives you a sense of purpose.”
