Transport and Drivers Volunteers

Here at The Arches, we have a small, dedicated group of regular volunteers who take on driving and passenger assistant roles, serving the community of Rhayader, on journeys, trips and outings.

Our Community Cars supply transport for residents who have no other way of travelling to hospital and medical appointments, as well as for shopping and visiting (at the discretion of The Arches).

Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to provide this extremely valuable service, which is relied upon by many.

One of our drivers, Del, who has been driving for us for the past 17 years, tells us what she loves about her role:

‘I enjoy driving because you get to know people and build relationships with clients. They love to see a familiar face and sometimes we are some of the only face-to-face contact they have.’

Fancy getting involved?

We are always looking for new volunteer drivers to join our wonderful team of Community Car drivers and ARCHIE team.

You need a driving licence, reliable car and we will conduct a DBS check.

For ARCHIE we will organise for you to do a MiDAS training course.
